Questions
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to give my name or contact details to see quotes?
No. The quoting tool asks for your gender, date of birth, the coverage amount you want, the term length, your general health and tobacco use. Those six items are all that is needed to return carrier rates. Your name, address or health history are only collected if you choose to proceed with an application.
Are the monthly prices shown the price I will pay?
They are quotes from carriers for the rate class and health level you selected. Each carrier sets its final premium during underwriting, which can confirm your health class, improve it, or adjust it. Nothing shown here is a guarantee of price, coverage or approval.
What happens when I click Apply?
You choose a quote and select Apply. The system creates a secure application prefilled with the answers you gave here, then opens it on the carriers' platform. You can stop and resume whenever you like, and you sign electronically. Susman Insurance Agency, a licensed California agency (License 0B75129), handles the application for you.
Will I need a medical exam?
That depends on the carrier you choose, the coverage amount, and your answers. Some carriers now offer accelerated underwriting: for younger applicants and standard amounts, they decide based on your application, prescription history and driving record instead of ordering an exam. Your quote lists whether an exam is required, possibly required, or not required.
Is a longer term better?
A term should cover the years when someone would be financially hurt by your death: a mortgage, dependent children, a business obligation. Longer terms cost more per month but lock in your rate for longer. The quoting tool lets you compare 10, 15, 20, 25 and 30 year terms side by side to see the difference.
Does this site sell my information?
