No-exam life insurance
Who gets accelerated underwriting, what makes it work, and what to expect if you don't qualify.
Many carriers now offer accelerated underwriting: for applicants within specified age and coverage limits, they issue decisions using the application, pharmacy data, motor-vehicle information and other sources instead of a physical exam. You might receive approval the same day. Each quote shows whether an exam is required, possibly required, or not required for that product.
What it changes
Accelerated underwriting does not eliminate underwriting. Your stated information is verified, and policies issued on false statements can be challenged within the first two years. If the carrier has questions based on its research, it may still require an exam or lab work; you'll decide then whether to continue.
Who tends to qualify
Typically applicants below age 60 who want standard amounts with no serious health problems and no tobacco use in the past year or longer. When recent medical work with bloodwork is available, some carriers will accept those results instead of requiring a new exam.
When an exam is needed, it's typically a 20- to 30-minute appointment arranged at your location in the Tulare area, at no charge to you. For people in good health, the exam often improves your rate tier, so it's not always a drawback.
